Party&Bullshit: Donuts Are Forever 4 – J Dilla Tribute

February 3, 2010 @ 7:41 pm

The late James Yancey aka J Dilla was one of the most influential producers and beat makers of hip hop music since. He was a pioneer in his field since the late nineties and has worked with Common, Busta Rhymes, A Tribe Called Quest, and my fave Erykah Badu, just to name a few.  His life was cut short when he died in 1996 from complications from Lupus. Every year Rare Form and Ladies Love NYC throw a huge tribute party to honor the life and this Saturday marks the fourth anniversary.  Long time Dilla friend and fellow Soulquarian founder, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson with be headlining,  It’s going to be a dope show and is sure as shit going to filled with good music and good people.
