When the model-esque Brooklynite, Oh Land (née Nanna Øland Fabricius) took the stage at Brooklyn Bowl, I was curious what this much-buzzed-about Danish performer had going on.

Nanna navigated the stage with the abandon of a pro in her black ruffled capelet, little shorts and mock garter belt tights as I wiped the drool off my shoulder from the guys next to me. Silken, dreamy vocals interlaced with dance-worthy electro-pop beats that mesmerized the audience having a nearly hypnotic effect.

As she grabbed hologram drumsticks to bang out electronic drums, I scanned the stage in an attempt to lay eyes on the rumored “contraption”- a custom-made electronic bell organ. Couldn’t spot it, but I WANT it.

The presentation was impressively minimalist and hit all the right notes. From the instruments, to Nanna and her drummer Hans all clad in black, the flashing lights and balloons with video projections of her singing face… all offered up a brimming cup of futurism, light and sweet.

The sound is decidedly familiar; right on the heels of Lykke Li, she channels a strong Bjork influence, and comes off as a less eclectic St. Vincent. Oh Land warmly delivers accessible experimental electro-pop with a floral… even tropical bouquet that successfully lures the smitten hearts of love drunk listeners.

Next up was another Brooklyn-based band comprised of five guys from Philly. The Canon Logic hit the stage delivering an infectious set of classic Britpop bent on The Killers that lit the crowd on fire.

Evidenced by an audience who needed no convincing to sing along to the hopeful, post-punk vocals of Tim Kiely and rock out, dancing to the earnest, driving anthems from their latest album ‘FM Arcade.’

Like a revolving door, The Canon Logic seems to subconsciously channel unclaimed influences from one song to the next, as tracks like Amy is a Wolverine recalls Oasis, Fabulist resonates The Kinks and Avenue of Criminals is reminiscent of Embrace.

Rooted in storytelling, The Canon Logic has staked their claim with a rock solid sound you can’t deny.  Oh, and did I mention the bass line of Dead Man? So good. Listen and download Dead Man for free AND watch the official video here: http://thecanonlogic.com/deadman/
