DECORATE // The Old Village Hall

February 2, 2011 @ 12:30 pm

A walk down East 2nd street in the East Village led me to discover The Old Village Hall, a tiny alcove shop filled with unique decorative pieces, reclaimed furniture upholstered in hand screen-printed fabrics, as well as pillows, bags and totes. Located at 170 E 2nd street between Avenues A and B, you feel at home the second you walk in with a variety of colors adorning over the walls while you’re put to ease with the amazing smell of hand made potpourri sachets and rich wood.

The line has been featured in Country Living, New York Magazine, and The New York Times and features the work and art of Scott Hill, who truly has a fantastic eye, showing an incredible attention to detail in his beautiful print work and other designs. Also on display are a collection of eclectic pieces and artwork that add up to a diverse collection in a somewhat vintage space.

If I lived in an apartment worthy of such beautiful designs my rooms would be covered with Hill’s innovative pieces from The Old Village Hall. Oh well… In the mean time a vintage inspired screen print tote will just have to do.
