TRAVEL: NYC Takes Sundance
Who is ready for Sundance?!?! This is my first year going and I am pretty effing stoked. I will be down there live tweeting and blogging from the home of 4AM DJ’s. Be on the lookout for interviews, photos, and videos!
It will be an action packed weekend and just to make us feel reminiscent of home, some of our fave New York nightlifers are throwing down. For the past few years, Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperburg of Strategic Group have taken up residency at the Samsung Galaxy Tab Lift. It’s heard to be the toughest door in town.

The Bing Bar at Claim Jumper Hotel, 573 Main St: The search engine will once again host a two-story hub for press junkets, happy hours, schmoozing and late-night gatherings. Chief among their events is a reception for the documentary “Sing Your Song,” focusing on the life of Harry Belafonte. Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry are slated to attend.
Harry O’s: The famous music venue will be taken over by popular Sundance program ChefDance — five nights of haute cuisine from the likes of Michael Chow (of the famous Mr. Chow restaurants) and “Iron Chef” winner Jared Young. Confirmed attendees include Kate Bosworth, Parker Posey, Vera Farmiga and Ben Foster. Snoop Dog, The Pussycat Dolls, Third Eye Blind, Far East Movement, and The Crystal Method will all be performing as well. [Tickets here]
Best of the rest: Burton Snowboards hosts their own joint on Empire Avenue across from the main Park City ski lift, where celebs can grab gear and private lessons from pros. The House of Blues brings their Foundation Room to Main for music-centric events with Third Eye Blind and Slash. Fashion brand Superdry will host a two-day experience, including a lunch panel with the Creative Coalition and the annual performance from Adrian Grenier’s band the Honey Brothers. The returning Variety Studio will offer visiting talent concierge services from Quintessentially and, rumor has it, exhibit portraits from legendary photographer Douglas Kirkland. Actor Danny Masterson’s Main Street club, Downstairs, is sure to be the jump off (DJ Paul Oakenfold played in 2009). Most of the industry parties are held at The Yard and The Sky Lodge and tend to die down early. [via]
