Weekend In Review: BEMF and SMD.
This weekend was probably the biggest Brooklyn loves Electro weekend to hit the scene.

First let me take it back to BEMF. Although I missed 90% of the insanity… I rolled up around 2AM just in time to see my friend Brion’s band, Euro sensation, 33hz. The scene was legit. SMD and Boize Noize were chillin in the Artist Lounge when I got there. The over all vibe of the party was “very Berlin,” as my friend put it. It was a huge indoor/outdoor party, people going crazy, dancing everywhere, totally not giving a fuck. I also haven’t seen that many people rolling face sine my raver days back in 2000, by time I got there it was like one big game of seven minutes in heaven, I think I actually saw one couple licking each other. But anyways…just as 33hz was about to go on it started to rain… go figure. The crowd started cheering as it was a much needed cool down for the soldiers who were rocking out for 10 hours at that point. All the sudden it stopped and 33hz kicked off their set with I Feel Alive. If you haven’t checked out this band yet, I recommend you Google/ MySpace/ HypeM that shit.

Check out Nicky Digitals Pics. They are much much much better than mine.
On to Sunday’s festivities…I rolled up to the Waterfront Park and was shocked that there was NO LINE at the gates. It was nothing short of a miracle, people must of been scurred of the rain and they also must be kicking themselves in the ass now because it didn’t rain. Miracle #2. I made my way to the 21+ pen and there was also NO LINE for BEER (Miracle #3.) I met up with my girl Sheen Beaston and we headed in to the concert zone for prime spots aka dead center at the foot of the stage, directly in front of a speaker. Finger on the Pulse DJs – who are the most dooker DJs ever – came back on and got the crowd hyped the F up. The best part about FOTP, besides their great music, is that they take turns DJing, and while one is DJing, the other dances in the middle of the stage and it just cracks me up. At one point they picked up the speakers and were dancing with them. And then… Simian Mobile Disco take the stage, the clouds lift from the sky, the sun peeks out from the clouds, the crowd goes crazy and then the BASS kicks in. Now, I have never, ever, in my life, felt bass penetrate through my body as I did on Sunday. I felt like that guy in the old commercial where he was sitting in a chair in front of a speaker and was getting blown away… yeah.. remember that? that’s how I felt. I had to relocate because the feeling of my heart and lungs vibrating was not a good one, and I needed more room to dance. I met up with my friend and continued the dance party. SMD is the SICKEST most ULTIMATE DJs to see live. Period. Their performance yesterday at East River State Park was epic. SMD, more so then other DJs I have seen live, truly know how to build up momentum with their music, they tell a story, get the crowd going, and then drop the beat at the most perfect time. At one point they were phasing the music out, I almost thought the set was over and then they just dropped that shit. My friends and I almost lost it because we couldn’t get over how sick they are. I am extremely happy I was there yesterday and got to be a part of that concert. Everyone was dancing their ass off, dancing with each other, and was so in to the music. The overall vibe was so peaceful and fun, everyone was just there for the music and to dance. As the set was finishing up the sun was setting right over the Manhattan skyline. SMD and FOTP actually tried to pull down the black curtain behind the stage so they could play with the sun setting behind them but it was a no go. It was a beautiful end to a beautiful day. As the crowded cleared the park, everyone was talking about how SMD absolutely KILLED it. If I could do that every weekend I would be a very happy woman.
