Resto Report: Cadaques Tapas Bar & Restaurant
Move over Fiore, I think I have a new favorite restaurant in town. Cadaques Tapas Bar, located at 188 Grand St between Bedford and Driggs, is sure to become a neighborhood staple. The restaurant is currently in the “soft launch” phase and plans to have their official Grand Opening next Monday, September 13th and as an added bonus – Mondays they have live Flamenco music and dancing!
The Details:
- HUGE open and airy restaurant (by Williamsburg standards) with a semi-private back dining area.
- Little known fact: the space used to be two apartments.
- Open for Brunch and Dinner
- Late night menu - serves dinner until 2AM!
- Live Flamenco band on Mondays
- Live Jazz bands and other assorted 3-piece bands to play during brunch and dinner
- Cheapest menu item: Gazpacho $5
- Priciest menu item: 6 choice meat and cheese plate $20
- Soft launch extremely successful- the restaurant has already been running on a wait time during peak weekend hours.
- Their cocktail menu is still in development but Sib – the most awesome bartender – told me that they will be playing around with reductions and infusions.
I had, and loved, the fried artichokes with a fennel pollen aioli and the Manilla clams with chorizo and white wine. When I say this shit was good – it was AMAZING. I could eat that every day. The chef then treated me to two of his specialties… a Beet and Goat cheese salad, which was really good and I don’t even like Goat Cheese. And then something I would have never normally ordered for myself but was pleasantly surprised – Plancha octopus with roasted sherry tomatoes, squid ink, and fig balsamic. The octopus was not chewy at all and had a great consistency – perfectly grilled to boot. I will def be back to Cadaques… my new favorite joint!
